Monthly Archives: December 2019

Greetings and Talofa Lava to all the Friends, Partners, Families and Supporters of Piula Theological College at this time of the year. A warm Piula welcome to our new students and staff, as well as the returning ones. I hope that the environment of Piula community has been welcoming to our new students, staff and families as they start afresh in their academic and faith journey. White Sunday for the Children this year was a wonderful event and especially to welcome the children of our new students and staff.

Faafetai tele and a heartfelt thank you for the prayers as well as the moral and financial support of all our partners, families and friends. We are approaching our mid-semester break for two weeks, and God has been so faithful and worked out miracles in our journey from the past 8 weeks of hard work. Academic Programmes, Social activities, Infrastructure development and Spiritual nourishment has been fruitful, and everyone is looking forward to a short break.

We had a successful staff appraisal and weeklong training by a Specialist from Fiji (Viliame Rabici) on Curriculum and Programme Designing. We included our BD class for the sake of Continuity of these quality processes, for the Future of Piula academic programmes. It is part of our preparations for the Samoa Qualification Authority visit to accredit of our Programmes at the end of this year.

One of the greatest achievements of this year is the beginning of the Lay Preachers Outreach Programme on the 4-5 of October for all the Lay Preachers of Upolu Island. We conducted Seminars on the Bible, Theology, Methodist Worship, Church History and Homiletics. We are looking forward to welcome the lay Preachers from Savaii Island on the 23-24 October for the same Outreach Programme.

MOU with Otago University Renewed

I am indeed very glad to announce that we have completed the renewal process of our Memorandum of Understanding with Otago University for the next 5 years. This Partnership is now 10 years old, and it has been a very fruitful sharing and working together for the enhancement of academic excellence of both Institutions since its establishment in 1999. On the same note, we congratulate Otago University for the Celebrations of its 150th Anniversary this year.

We have conducted a Fale Turisi Project since September, and we are opening 6 huts for tourists at our Cave Pool Site on the 18th of October. I acknowledge the support of staff and students, especially Revd. Numia Tauauve’a and our Carpentry Group for the hard work. We are committed to the development of our Cave Pool site by providing quality simple shelters for the convenience of visitors and the public.

We continue to pray for our friends and partners, for Peace, for the Needy, for those who are affected by ecological crises, for the Sustainability of God’s Creation and re-Creation, as well as the mission of the Worldwide Christian Church. We also ask for your prayers, and that God will continue to bless us all.

Soifua ma ia Manuia
