FOUNDATIONAL PROGRAMME

The Foundational Pathway is a one year programme (first year) for all the new candidates of PTC. It is designed to a connecting platform between prior learning / experiences of new students and the commencement of their Theological and Ministerial Training. The Scope of the programme covers both an introduction to the Academic Programmes as well as the Ministerial Formation standards established in the PTC Curriculum. The foundational Pathway is therefore a requirement mandated for all the new students to enter into the Diploma in Theology Level 6 Programme.

DIPLOMA in THEOLOGY

The Diploma in Theology (Dip.Theo) is a 3 year Programme, at level 6, which incorporates the academic, moral and spiritual formation of students. The Primary objective of the Dip.Theo Programme is to provide the fundamental theological and ministerial foundation for its candidates to serve in the Ministry of the MCS. The candidates who successfully complete the Dip.Theo Programme are presented to the Conference of the Methodist Church in Samoa (MCS) at the annual Conference for appointment as Probationary Ministers.

BACHELOR of DIVINITY

Piula launched its BD Programme in the General Conference of July 1998 and immediately commenced in August of the same year. It was originally a separate Programme with its own courses and a compulsory research thesis. Later on, it was turned into a nested form of Programme, where it nested the Diploma Programme with credits from level courses in year 4 (Dip3).

BACHELOR of DIVINITY with Honours

T​In 2016, the BD Hons Programme was launched, and the College has been offering it ever since. However, the Principle and Staff of Piula are still liable to deliver the Masters Programme, according to the General Conference resolution of 2014. This MTheo Programme is the realisation of that dream comes true.

masters in theology

Piula’s Master of Theology (MTheo) degree is a level IX research programme meant to be reviewed after every three years. MTheo students may follow research interests in Biblical Studies, Christian Theology, Pastoral Ministry or Church History.
